Dorsal spines (total): 9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: luminous gland short and U-shaped around the anus, its length 16.6-21.3% SL; the symphysis of lower jaw not protruded; proximal radial of first anal-fin pterygiophore with concavity on the anterior surface; anus is closer to pelvic-fin insertion than to origin of anal fin; scales of lateral side of anterior body and caudal-fin base cycloid; no vertical line on cheek; scales 4 between first dorsal-fin base and lateral line; gill rakers 19-24; pectoral-fin rays 15-16 (modally 16); head length 38.0-44.5% SL (Ref. 123727).
