Distinguished from the single other species of the genus by its 5-8 longitudinal black stripes on the body; 81-92 lateral line scales (including those on caudal fin); 40-46 predorsal scales (Ref. 27732).
Reported to prefer large, deep rivers without much current (Ref. 27732).
