Has a relatively narrow midlateral stripe (width about 1-1.5 scale rows); a plain dorsal fin; a distinct black submarginal stripe along each caudal-fin lobe (Ref. 27732); with rostral barbels only; small mental disk, shorter than wide (Ref. 12693).
Inhabits rocky bottoms in fast flowing water of all sizes of rivers and streams. Feeds on periphyton, phytoplankton and some insects (Ref. 12693).
