Etymology: Chrysiptera: Greek, chrysos = golden + Greek, pteron = fin, wing (Ref. 45335).
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Marine; reef-associated; non-migratory; depth range 4 - 30 m (Ref. 7247). Tropical; 21°N - 12°S, 105°E - 138°E
Western Pacific: Indonesia (Moluccas and Flores) and Philippines.
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 5.5 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 9710)
Adults inhabit coral-rich areas of sheltered lagoon and inshore coral reefs (Ref. 9710). Seen with similar yellow-tailed species, often on the same coral patches. Mostly found in aggregations on coastal reef slopes with low Acropora patches on sand to 30 m (Ref. 48636). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 113699).
