Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Very abundant. Lives in the upper reaches of rivers (Ref. 35381). Frequently occurs over sandy bottoms traversed by strong currents. Most probably lives in schools as it is often captured in groups (Ref. 27188). Often found with C. approuaguensis and C. cf. brevirostris (Ref. 35381).
