Remarks The mitochondrial phylogeny offered no rationale for distinguishing Moolgarda from Valamugil, and Liza from Chelon, leading Durand et al. (Ref. 90274) to challenge their validity; the distinction of two other currently accepted genera (Paramugil and Xenomugil) turned out to be unsupported by the phylogeny.
