Diagnosis

This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: reddish orange iris; usually D VIII with the eighth spine tiny; 2 series of dark spots (suffused with orange in life) on upper part of body of which anterior spots of upper series with paler centre; posterior preopercular edge has 5-14 small serrations and membranous, crenulated ventral edge (Ref. 103389).
