This species differs from its congeners by having the following combination of characters: eyes present, normal; well scaled, except head; lateral line curved with 59-64 scales; body shape normal; dorsal-fin spine half-hard; 8 gill rakers; 8 predorsal vertebrae; length of caudal peduncle 21.3-22.7% of SL; depth of caudal peduncle 10.5-12.0% SL (Ref. 95062).
