Distinguished from its congeners, except Batasio batasio, in possessing a color pattern on the body consisting solely of horizontal stripes (vs. with vertical bars and spots, or a uniform dark brown color). Differs from B. batasio in having a shorter dorsal spine (14.0-16.1% SL vs. 16.7-18.5), longer adipose-fin base (28.3-31.8 % SL vs. 24.8-26.5), and a deeper body (19.5-21.2% SL vs. 17.0-17.4) and caudal peduncle (9.3-9.7% SL vs. 8.2-8.8) (Ref. 54041). Description: Anal fin with iv,8 or iv,9 rays; pelvic fin with i,5 rays (Ref. 54041). |
