Diagnosis: 6.5-7.5 scales in transverse row between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 10 scales around caudal peduncle; 33-36 lateral line scales (Ref. 74421, 80290). Eye diameter/head length 36-50% (Ref. 80290) or 35.6-46.8 (Ref. 74421). 17-19 (Ref. 80290) or 16-19 (Ref. 74421) anal fin branched rays.

Description: body more or less slender; males have dorsal fin rays filamentous (Ref. 80290). Dorsal fin with 2 unbranched and 8 branched rays; anal fin with 3 unbranched and 16-19 branched rays (Ref. 74421). 17-19 (Ref. 80290) or 16-20 (Ref. 74421) gill rakers on lower limb of first gill arch.

Coloration: dorsum generally dark green, belly is lighter and whitish (Ref. 80290).
