With peculiar mouth structure: both jaws covered by a horny sheath and with sharp edges; upper jaw without processus dentiformis and lower jaw without notch; lips very thin and wide, not completely covering jaws; intestine with numerous loops. This peculiar mouth structure enables the fish to scrape aufwuchs (Ref. 39226). |
