Comments | Year of introduction is 1943 according to Ref. 1739. Assumed to be introduced for aquaculture (Ref. 1739, 51823). Well-established populations throughout the country (Ref. 51823). Appears to have dominated reservoirs and man-made lakes. Not well received as a foodfish and has since become free-roaming, with feral populations inhabiting freshwater and low-salinity habitats.
