Comments | Introduced by A. Collart, a Belgian agronomist. Introduced in Lake Kivu to create an open water pelagic fishery (Ref. 7270). Formed a basis for an important fishery although the sustainability of this has been questioned. The larger planktonic species declined leading to the almost complete disappearance of Daphnia and an increase of ciliates and protozoa (Ref. 13055). Also Ref. 1739, 46152. Ref: Dumont, H.J., 1986 |
