Comments Important for aquaculture and fisheries in natural waters including rivers in the highlands. Useful for weed control and supports high altitude and high salinity lakes such as Lake Ihotry (Ref. 1739). Devastated nearly 3000 ha. of Ceratophyllum and Nymphaea beds which resulted in the almost total disappearance of a valuable indigenous fish Paretropus petiti (Ref. 6465).
