Definition of Term

race
(English) A geographical group of populations or a population differing from others. Formerly used as a synonym of subspecies. Now used to refer to units below the subspecies level which are not given taxonomic names. An infrasubspecific category which has no status under the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature.
