Symptoms: | Exhibits a swollen belly and the fish scrape its belly on the bottom. Ref 48502. | |
Treatments: | Long bath with Praziquantel (200-300mg/100L for 24-36 hours) or short baths (3-5mg Praziquantel/litre for 3-6 hours, repeat after 2-3 weeks). Treatment with Niclosamide (dosage same as Praziquantel) can also have good results. Mixed in the food: 50mg Praziquantel in 100g food, for 5-7 days.; 100-200mg Mebendazole/100g food, for 5-7 days. Remarks: | The parasite is 620-1160 µm long and 343-600 µm wide. The scolex is 290-335 µm long with four suckers 85-100 µm in diameter. Occurs in the intestine or the abdominal cavity. Ref 48502. | |
