Symptoms: The parasite can be found in the intestine and gall bladder in the initial stage. In heavy infections, secondary bacterial infection and occational hole in the head develops. The fish exhibits signs of listlessness, develop swollen bellies (filled with fluid) and the fish will eventually die. Also in Ref. 045600, the parasite causes severe inflamation in the entire digestive tract, lesions in the liver and spleen, the infected fish looses its appetite, develops dropsy and will also gradually die.  
Treatments: Use Metronizadole (Dose: 400-600 mg/100 liter for 3 days.) and Nifurpirinol (Dose: 10-15 mg/100 l for an unlimited time or as instructed.) or Tetracycline (Dose: 3-4 gm/100 l for 2-3 days, water change after treatment). Also using Diminazendiaceturat (1g/100L for 2 days) yields good results.  
Prophylaxis:    
Remarks: It is distinct from the parasite Spironucleus sp. because it is smaller and does not have the whirling swimming motion symptoms.
