Abundance: common (usually seen) 
Comments: Common to 92 m depth. First known British Columbia record is that of D.S. Jordan and C.H. Gilbert in 1881 which was based on a specimen seen at Victoria (Ref. 4925). Caught off Queen Charlotte Sound (Ref. 93933) and in Howe Sound (Ref. 91783). Occurs in Ross Islets, Barkley Sound (Ref. 94110). Esteemed food fish. Has been taken mostly with handlines and otter trawls by commercial fishers. Taken with hook and line and spears by game fishers. There is a daily limit that ranges from 1 to 3 depending on the area. Season limits apply in some areas. Annual limit of 10 in some areas. A minimum size limit of 65 cm applies in some areas (Ref. 11007). Also Ref. 9988, 95148. In range Ref. 2850.
