Reports from Kafue River (Ref. 246, 27607) refer to Zaireichthys kafuensis (Ref. 86935). Reports from Luangwa River (Ref. 95585) refer to Zaireichthys monomotapa (Ref. 86935). Reports from Kabompo River (Ref. 52959) probably belong to undescribed species (Ref. 86935). Also reported from the upper Congo River basin (Ref. 246, 13337, 78218, 95585), although this might be doubtful as specimens from the Congo basin identified as Zaireichthys rotundiceps (Ref. 51287) are considered to be Zaireichthys brevis (Ref. 58032), indicating that Zaireichthys rotundiceps does not occur in the Congo River basin.
