Found in the Zambezi River below the Victoria Falls, valley part of Lower Zambezi tributaries (Mazowe), Lower Save/Runde below the falls, Limpopo and the lower sections of its tributaries, such as the Mwenezi. Also recorded from Lake Kariba (Ref. 58363). Very common in suitable deep habitats. Also Ref. 3126.
