Present in all parts of Lake Victoria, where it is a moderately important food fish, but became rare with the appearance of the Nile perch (Ref. 4967). Rare in Lake Tanganyika, present down to 30 meter (Ref. 4967). Also Ref. 13624. Used in aquaculture projects (Ref. 38089).
