Principally indigenous in the North-East where it is less and less reported. Although considered as rare in France, its geographic distribution is probably underestimated because the areas where it frequently occurs are not well fished and not well sampled. Its benthic habit could also account for its rareness (Ref. 11941). Its biotope has to be protected ("arrĂȘtĂ© du 8-12-1988"). In " Annexe II de la Directive Habitats-Faune-Flore" and in " Annexe III de la Convention de Berne" (Ref. 40476). Also Ref. 2163, 30578.

Status of threat: Endangered (Ref. 40476). Least concern (Ref. 59043).
