Known from the European Black Sea watersheds (Ref. 58342). Also Ref. 106151. Recorded from the Meric, Thrace, Sapanca and Sakarya system in the east (Ref. 33550). Threatened by habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution and construction of weirs/dams in rivers. In Appendix III of the Bern Convention (protected fauna) and listed on Annexes II and V of the EU Habitats Directive (Ref. 58342). Also Ref. 59043.

Status of threat: Vulnerable (Ref. 58342). EurTurk.
