Found in Hokkaido (Ref. 37812). Also recorded from Lake Biwa (Ref. 78994). Considered a delicacy in Japan and a cooking method has been developed wherein live dojo are dropped in a pot of cold water containing a block of bean curd (tofu); fish burrow into the tofu and get cooked in it as the water is heated up; the block of tofu when sliced show segments of dojo (Ref. 44091).
