Comments

Found only in Tuscany and Latium regions (Arno, Ombrone and Tiber river basins). Has disappeared from the main basin, but recorded from upper River Farma, La Gonna Brook, Lanzo Brook and Gretano River with reduced populations. The population in River Ombrone is decreasing due to the introduction and then competition with Chondrostoma genei. A similar situation has been reported in the Tiber in central Italy (Ref. 45688). Spawns in shallow riffle habitats in fast-flowing water (Ref. 59043). Threatened due to the introduction of other species, pollution (Ref. 26100), habitat alterations and water abstraction (Ref. 59043). Also Ref. 12255, 26100, 27118, 94493.

Status of threat: endangered (Ref. 119201).
