Found in North India along base of Himalaya, Assam, West Bengal, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa (Ref. 45255) and Tripura (Ref. 97593). Known from Brahmaputra and Ganges drainages along the Himalaya foothills (Ref. 4832) and Chota-Nagpur Damodar drainage (Ref. 41236). Present in Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal lakes (Ref. 89721), also in Buxa, Adma and Jayanti rivers (Ref. 89719). Vulnerable (Ref. 41236).
