Occurs around the south of New Zealand from 600 to over 1000 m (Ref. 9258). This is the most commonly caught oreo dory in New Zealand and available all year round (Ref. 9258). Recorded as scarce in the Northeastern and Eastern Chatham Rise (Ref. 87166). Voucher specimen(s) held at the NMNZ. Also Ref. 9072, 45493.
