Occurs in Janakpur, Kosi and Narayani zones at altitudes of 120-190 m (Ref. 9496); Trisuli, Bagmati and Rapti rivers, preferring rocky and gravel bed creeks (Ref. 57735). Used as ornamental fish by Buddhists (Ref. 12045). Also Ref. 4832, 6351.
