Type locality of Poecilia omalonota: 'Nossi-Be, a small island off NW coast of Madagascar' (Ref. 3788). It probably ranges from the Sambirano drainage northward to the tip of the Cap d'Ambre in the northwest (Ref. 56194). Live specimens were brought to France in 1953 from Maevatanana (about 100 km SW Majunga in Betsiboka drainage), W Madagascar (Ref. 6064). Also Ref. 3788, 13333, 27139.
