Ranges south to Santa Barbara, southern California (Ref. 2850, 27436). In Puget Sound, this species feeds heavily from July to October, stops feeding in January and apparently does not eat again until June (Ref. 27547). From Gulf of Alaska to waters off California, USA about 60-70% are sinistral (Ref. 2850). Probably the most abundant near-shore flounder south to northern California (Ref. 27547).
