Known from the Atlantic Slope drainages from St. Lawrence drainage south to Savannah River in Georgia. Introduced to Great Lakes and Ohio-Missouri-Mississippi river systems of mid-western USA; elsewere as far west as Colorado (Ref. 86798). Introduced populations in Lake Ontario drainage have become established following construction of the Erie Canal. A popular fish sold in live fish markets. Found in 1 out of 6 live fish markets near the Lakes Erie and Ontario (Ref. 53249). Also Ref. 7251. |
