Comentários |
Occurs in the Mekong, Maeklong and Chao Phraya rivers (Ref. 26336, 26580). Population has declined drastically in Thailand, where it was formerly abundant (Ref. 10431). Naturally occurring population in the Chao Phraya has probably disappeared (Ref. 10431). Seems to encountered regularly from Nongkhai and further north up to Chiang, both on the Thai-and the Lao side of the Mekong; also recorded in Nakhon Phanom and Ubol Ratchathani (Ref. 37770). Juveniles measuring 2-6 cm were found from three places in Thailand: Chiang Saen in Chiang Rai Province, Tad Phanom in Nakhon Phanom Province and Khemaratch in Ubol Ratchathani Province. Juveniles of size 10-14 cm were also seen in November in Songkhram River, which indicates that this fish spawns in the Songkhram River basin (Ref. 37770); also from Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Sawan, Nonthaburi and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya (Ref. 37773). The flesh is fairly good to eat (Ref. 6459). Threatened due to habitat loss and overfishing (Ref. 58784). Also Ref. 1632, 9648, 12693, 36732, 43281. Status of threat: Endangered (Ref. 58784). |
