Reported to have been introduced in 1950 from Democratic Republic of the Congo to ponds at Korogwe (Ref. 87, 4967, 54836, 55060) and later Malya (Ref. 54836), and distributed to dams nearby and in the eastern rift zone (Ref. 4967), although it is possible that it was actually the related Oreochromis mweruensis (Ref. 2, 118638); neither species has been reported in recent surveys and there is no evidence that breeding populations were ever established (Ref. 118638). |
