Ranges from the west coast to East London, perhaps reaching Durban (Ref. 10000). Average monthly biomass during the years 1984-88 was estimated to be 352,000 tons off the west coast and 754,000 tons off the south coast (Ref. 42649). Biomass peaked in May off the west coast and in December off the south coast (Ref. 42649). Also Ref. 5430.
