Distributed in lakes and rivers from the Mezen to the Kolyma rivers. Tazovskaya Guba is known as a nursing ground for juveniles (Ref. 118986). Introduced into many lakes in northwestern Russia (Ref. 26334). Translocated to several areas in the country for captive culture and stocking in open waters and has now locally established self-sustaining populations (Ref. 45022).
