Type locality, Departamento de San Martin: Río Huallaga, Uchiza, MUSM 6635 (holotype of Sternarchorhynchus taphorni, 31 cm TL, sexually dimorphic male). Known from the upper portions of the Río Huallaga and adjoining left bank tributaries of the Río Ucayali basin of eastern Peru (Ref. 84053). |
