Found in coastal waters throughout New Zealand but most common in the south to 100 m depth (Ref. 9258). Recorded in the trawl survey in Chatham Islands (Ref. 45493) and off the east coast of South Island (Ref. 58461). Landed throughout the year (Ref. 9258). Voucher specimen(s) held at the NMNZ. Also Ref. 9072.
