Endemic to Western Ghats (Ref. 50614). Known from Dakshin Kannada (South Canara) in Karnataka and from Trichur Chalakudi river and Cardamon Hills in Kerala (Ref. 41236). Recorded from the upper Cauvery, Chalakkudi (Ref. 43641) and Chendurni (Ref. 43638). Of moderate interest to fisheries in South Karnataka (Ref. 4832). Also Ref. 43640, 45255.

Status of threat : Endangered (Ref. 41236).
