Type locality: Surate (Ref. 48635). Known from Tamil Nadu coast and Vizhingam (Ref. 45255). Also found in Chilka Lake (Ref. 29108) and Godavari estuary (Ref. 51036). Of no interest to fisheries in inland waters though it is a dominant species in the ponyfish catches on the Tamil Nadu coast (Ref. 4833). Often occurs in estuaries (Ref. 4833). Also Ref. 5451. |
