Known from the mouth of river Ganges and its tributaries, West Bengal coast and Hooghly estuary (Ref. 45255). Forms an important element in artisanal fisheries in the Hooghly estuary, West Bengal (Ref. 4832). Common during winter months and known for spines. Largely processed for dry-fish markets (Ref. 33273).
