Reported from Lobster Bay (Ref. 33067); Hoi Ha Wan (Ref. 119713); and Tung Ping Chau (Ref. 125586). Also reported from Mirs Bay, Tolo Channel, and Tolo Harbour (Ref. 126271). The species was observed on 11 to 100 occasions during 400 dive surveys on artificial reefs (Ref. 119494). Common around coral communities and rocky reefs to at least 15 m and referred to as a well-camouflaged ambush predator (Ref. 36558, 42181). Sold in wet markets (Ref. 129440).
