Known from Maui and Kaua'i (Ref. 58302). Occurs primarily in reservoirs in Hawaii, like the Wahiawa Reservoir, Nu'uanu Reservoir No. 4 and Ho'omaluhia Reservoir on O'ahu; escapees can be found in streams draining these reservoirs (Ref. 44091).
