Found in shallow coastal waters of the German North and Baltic Seas (Ref. 88171). Population in the German Bight locally extinct (Ref. 88758). Rare occurrences in the German EEZ (Ref. 88171). Since 1965 DATRAS reported catches of 86 individuals out of 6,280 hauls and 0 individuals out of 2,360 hauls taken in or near the German EEZ of the North and Baltic Seas, respectively (Ref. 88760). Human activities in the German North and Baltic seas that might affect thornback rays: fisheries, eutrophication, sediment removal, offshore installations, constructions of cables and pipelines, channel deepening and technical installations (Ref. 88171). |
