Widely distributed in the Congo River basin; known from the lower Congo (Ref. 1879), Pool Malebo (Ref. 41585, 44985, 88942), middle Congo River (Ref. 1879, 4910, 41594), Kasai (Ref. 46243), Sankuru (Ref. 88943), lakes Mai-Ndombe (Ref. 1879) and Tumba (Ref. 44912), the Tshuapa (Ruki drainage)(Ref. 41580), Ubangui (Ref. 45441), Uele (Ref. 1879, 41594), Itimbiri (Ref. 41590, 106290), Aruwimi/Ituri (Ref. 41594, 106290), Lindi-Tshopo (Ref. 106290), Wagenia Falls (Ref. 106245), Lualaba (Ref. 45434, 45616) and upper Lualaba (Lake Upemba) (Ref. 45616). Report from the Chiloango (Ref. 88943) is unconfirmed in Ref. 81635.
