Known from the Luvua drainage (upper Congo River basin), which is the actual type locality, in stead of the Lukuga as stated in original description (Ref. 78218). Also reported from affluents of Lake Tanganyika (Ref. 78218), Rusizi basin (Ref. 87863), the middle Congo basin (Ref. 78218, 106245) and Wagenia Falls (Ref. 106245). Furthermore collected in the upper Lualaba and Sankuru basin (Ref. 12818). According to Ref. 78218 only the types can with certainty be identified as this species, awaiting revision. Also Ref. 3202.
