Known from the lower Tocantins River basin of the Amazon River basin (Ref. 36377). Type locality: State of Pará,: R. Tocantins, Tucurui, jusante de represa, poços (Ref. 34233). Its original rapids habitat is now under the huge lake formed by the Tucuruí hydroelectric reservoir (status of the species presently unknown) (Ref. 46528). Maybe threatened by extinction due to its restricted distribution in the rapids of Rio Tocantins, a biotope currently destroyed by hydroelectric power plants (Ref. 85327). |
