Photo of the species was taken from the Mitchell River at Mt Carbine, Queensland (specimens are found at the Queensland Museum). Known from other drainages of western Cape York Peninsula (Ref. 44894). The population is known to breed in freshwater, upstream of the Mitchell River Falls. Species can reach a total length of 9 centimeters, but have also been observed to reach 1.5 centimeters (G. Aland pers.comm. 11/05).
