Known from Wilson's Promontory, Victoria to E of Glenelg River, Flinders Is., King Is. And Clarke Is., Bass Strait, and Tasmania (Ref. 7300). Rare in Victoria (Ref. 48666). Recorded from south-western Western Australia (King, Kalgan, Goodga) in the vicinity of Albany. Abundant in the east, less common in the west. Landlocked populations exist in a few lakes of central Tasmania (Bronte, Julian, Great lake), Lake Eppalock region of Victoria and in Western Australia (Goodga river) (Ref. 44894).
