Africa: distribution unknown. Type locality is "Lake Tanganyika", but there is serious doubt about the type locality of this species as Poll (1946) mentioned the absence of schilbeids from the Lake itself; possibly the type specimen of this species was collected in the Luala River (Kasai River basin) and was wrongly labelled afterwards (Ref. 43912). Ref. 3570 reports that the type may originate from "Lago Tana" (=Lake Tana in Ethiopia) instead of "Lago Tanganika".

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm Total Length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Nível Trófico (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.5 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resiliência (Ref. 120179):  Elevada, tempo mínimo de duplicação da população menor que 15 meses (Assuming fec > 10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
