Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 9; Rayons mous anaux: 32 - 35. This species is distinguished from all its congeners, except T. anostomus, T. juruena, T. kuluene, by the principal teeth on dentary 5-6 (vs. 4) and by having thinner and sharper teeth (vs. larger and more robust); differs from T. anostomus by the terminal mouth (vs. subsuperior mouth); differs from T. anostomus, T. kuluene by the conspicuous humeral marks 2 (vs. 1); differs from T. anostomus, T. araguaiensis by the number of rakers on the lower limb and upper limb of the first gill arch 13-14 and 8-9. respectively (vs. 17-20 and 10-12); differs from T. juruena, T. kuluene by the scale rows between lateral line and dorsal-fin origin 7 (vs. 6); differs from T. argenteus by the predorsal scales 8 (vs. 11-17); differs from T. carvalhoi by the presence of a rounded dark mark on caudal peduncle (vs. a lozenge-shaped mark); differs from T. rarus, T. georgiae by the scale rows between lateral line and pelvic-fin origin 3.5 (vs. 4.5-5.5); differs from T. rarus by the absence of dark longitudinal stripes on the trunk (vs. presence); differs from T. ommatus by the maxillary teeth 3-4 (vs. 7-8) and by having a mark centered on caudal peduncle (vs. mark limited to the posterior portion of caudal peduncle) (Ref. 124043).
